It is only available with one of two engines and two transmissions, either a 1 or 1.4-liter engine mated to a CVT or 5-speed manual transmission. The current Spark on sale to the public now is the fourth-generation that first came into service in 2015. This platform is used by other models such as the Opel Corsa, Chevrolet Montana and Opel Tigra so had a lot of resources invested into developing it. Safety ratings for the car have remained on the lower end until the Spark was moved onto the company's Global Small Vehicles platform in the third-generation. It has always been built and sold as a city car, small in size with a small engine perfect for short journeys with low running costs. The best way I can think to do this is jump power off the brake lights (also ensuring there is a lockout mechanism, unsure how I would prevent this circuit from running if the car is in drive, so having your foot on the brake would ad a little safety against accidental pushes on the road) then putting a momentary switch on the interior of the tailgate, or on the dash where it is supposed to be.Originally the Chevrolet Spark was sold as the Daewoo Matiz before the American manufacturer bought out the automobile wing of Daewoo. I think we're going to install an emergency trunk release. I bought a wiring diagram from MitchelDIY and confirmed there is no Relay for this mechanism, however the trunk latch is controlled by a white, blue, and black wire that disconnect in a harness on the right side of the trunk. This is a two person job, it requires one to hold the latch open with a screw drive and another to pull the tailgate open. I'd link to the forum where we found the tip, but I can't find it again. We were able to release it by prying at it with a screw driver. It has a revolving hook that rotates in to place when the loop it latches to pushes on the back of the latch mechanism. We were originally trying to slip something along side the hoop like you shimmy a door open with a credit card, but the latch doesn't work like this. We were able to force the latch open from the inside with a screw driver and lots of patience. There is no button on the exterior, nor the dash, just plastic blanks where the button would go. There is a small finger sized hole above the latch where resources say there is a lever on other years, but comparing pictures to what we see, there isn't one. We tore the tailgate down to the metal, confirmed with a few sources online this is the first, and potential only year the LS model had no mechanical release. If all else fails when it comes to technology, I've generally found that the average five year old can show you how it's done in about a minute. Just strip a tiny piece (3 or 4" tops should be plenty, just a scrap piece of wire, strip the insulation off each end) of stereo wire or something similar in guage and use that to make your connection. That most likely would definitely work, just make damn sure you don't mess up. Have you looked in the owners manual? Otherwise a multimeter will tell you which side of the relay is live and which is ground. Another says there is a little black button barely visible on the tail lights on the trunk. Another says if the doors are unlocked, there is a little notch in the trunk lid, if you slide your hand under there, there is a little latch, kind of like how you open your hood it sounds like. What year is it? Some people say there is a little button to the left of the steering wheel next to the little cubby.
